How to connect Shopify with Odoo

Connect Shopify with one click and Odoo with an API key. Send stock from Odoo locations to Shopify locations and prices from an Odoo pricelist, and create each Shopify order as an Odoo sales order, with the customer created or updated as a contact.

Before you start

What you need.

  • A Shopify store where you can approve apps.
  • Your Odoo URL, database, a user and an API key for that user.
  • The same SKU in Shopify and as the internal reference in Odoo.
Step by step

The setup.

  1. Connect Shopify

One click: you approve the NexxoSync app in your Shopify admin. No custom apps and no tokens to copy.

    1. In NexxoSync, go to Connections and choose Shopify.
    2. Enter your store's myshopify.com address and click “Connect with Shopify”.
    3. Approve the permissions in Shopify. Real-time notifications are registered automatically.
  2. Connect Odoo

Odoo has no central app store login: you connect with your Odoo URL, database, user and API key. An optional module adds real-time notifications.

    1. In Odoo, create an API key for the user NexxoSync will act as.
    2. In NexxoSync, go to Connections, choose Odoo and enter the URL, database, user and API key.
    3. Optional: download the NexxoSync Connector module, install it in Odoo and paste the token NexxoSync shows you.
  3. Create the integration

Create an integration between Shopify and Odoo. The wizard asks where your catalog lives and where sales are recorded, and proposes a table of flows: one row per kind of data, each with its own direction.

  4. Set the flows

Turn on these rows. The others can stay off, or be set to your case: directions a platform's API doesn't allow are disabled, with the reason.

    • Stock: Odoo → Shopify. From the Odoo locations you map to Shopify locations.
    • Prices: Odoo → Shopify. From a regular and, optionally, an offer pricelist.
    • Orders: Shopify → Odoo. Each Shopify order becomes a sales order.
    • Customers: Shopify → Odoo. Shopify customers are created or updated as contacts.
  5. Link your products

NexxoSync proposes links between both catalogs by SKU: confirm them. Products without a SKU can be linked by hand. Only linked products are synced.

  6. Simulate and turn it on

Simulate the stock, price and customer flows to see every change they would make, without writing anything. Then turn the integration on: flows run on every change where the platform sends notifications, with a scheduled run as a safety net, and every run is recorded in the history.

Good to know

Tips from real setups.

  • Map each Odoo location to the Shopify location it should write to, and hold back a safety stock per location if you need it.
  • Pick an offer pricelist in Odoo: when its price is lower than the regular one, Shopify shows it as a sale with the compare-at price.
  • Orders can arrive as drafts, confirmed, or confirmed and invoiced automatically. Start with drafts while you check the mapping.
Frequently asked questions

How to connect Shopify with Odoo

Is the Odoo module needed?

It is optional. It adds real-time notifications from Odoo and full pricelist rules (percentages and formulas). Without it, Odoo changes are picked up on a schedule and only fixed pricelist prices are read.

Can Shopify be the catalog's home instead?

Yes. Both platforms support every flow, so you can publish from Shopify into Odoo too.

Does it work with several Odoo companies?

Yes. With several companies, each connection works in its own.
